Introduction to Mindfulness: A Six-Week Course

This course will introduce you to practices and meditation techniques that cultivate mindfulness in our daily lives. We will explore the benefits of mindfulness for emotional and physical well-being and interpersonal relationships. This course will also help you establish your own continuing mindfulness meditation practice.

We will meet six Wednesdays: 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19 and 4/26 from 6-8pm at the library.

Each class will consist of talks from the instructor, guided meditations, discussion and ways to practice these tools in daily life. Each week we will explore how mindfulness helps with key areas in our lives including how to: cultivate an embodied attention; work with strong emotions; manage emotional reactivity; navigate thoughts and distractions in meditation; develop the skill of mindful listening and mindful communication; and cultivate kindness and care in meditation.

Registration is required and participants must register for ALL six classes. Please call 978-355-2533 or email barrelibrary@gmail.com to sign up for this FREE course. Ages 18+

About the instructor: Elizabeth Thompson has been studying and practicing mindfulness for over ten years and will complete her Mindfulness Teacher Certification through Mindfulness Training Institute in June 2023. She was a college professor of English for 20 years.
